Hiking in a Summer Forest Land

So I went on this hike with my manager (at the time) up the east side of the Mendenhall Glacier. Originally we were going to hike up Thunder Mountain, but we took a wrong turn at one of the many forks in the road and ended up here.

Once we had started the hike, my manager told me that he had gotten himself into many bad situations while hiking and had videos of his extreme hiking trips on YouTube. Great! I was hiking with a maniac! Haha, it turned out ok though. We were safe and it was way cool!

The ground cover was everywhere! I’ve never seen anything like that in Utah… could be because this is rainforest and Utah is desert. It was like a fuzzy green carpet that covered the entire ground!

The rivers and streams here are everywhere! And they are gorgeous! I wish my camera was better so I could capture the beauty of this.

See the chunks of ice in the water? Yeah, that’s right off the glacier! Crazy!

Here’s a closer view of glacial ice chunks.

The forest. Rainforest that is. So much green!

Mendenhall Glacier. Awesome! And probably very cold. I really wanted to go kayak up to it when I saw this.

This is the fall we found when we went a bit off the beaten path. It was pretty.

From farther down.

This looks like something I’d be more familiar with.

Base of Nugget Falls, with the Glacier in the background.

I just like this picture! :) We went on this board walk looking for bears. Unfortunately we didn’t find any. But it was a fun walk.
