Jess' Triathlon - St. George

This was our family trip down to St. George to support Jess in her first triathlon.

The course was around Sandy Hollow and this is the lake where Jess would have swam had they not cancelled the swim portion of the triathlon do to dangerous water conditions.

This was her first 5K run (I think).

Then her 12-ish mile bike ride, which she did really well on. She passed a lot of people.

Then her second 5K run. I got a picture as she crossed the finish line, but some lady had to step in the way right as I took it...so, alas, I only have a picture of some random lady in a pink shirt.

This is Jess coming up the last bit of the run. Just so you know how hard it was, much of the run was through sand, and right before the end of the race was a sandy hill - yuck!

This is her after the race. She did really well, not surprisingly, and I'm so proud of her!

Jess and Moneka, who drove her down and went over the course with her.

Jess' legs. When they say they are going to mark you for the race, they aren't kidding. She had her number on her hand and arm, an 'S' for sprint on one leg and '18' on the other for her age group (the age she'll be at the end of the year I think).

Benj and Danielle on the sandstone overlooking the lake. They're so cute!

Benj jumping into the pool!

Oh the two youngest girls...they are so adorable.

Saturday night we went to Zion National Park and hiked the Emerald Pools trail. It was very pretty and the contrast between the red sandstone and the green foliage was so beautiful!

I love this picture! Mom, Jess, and me had gone another direction, so it's only dad, Jenn, Benj, and Danielle, but I still love it!

Overall, this was a very good trip, even though my dad did take us on some unexpected stops. It was nice to go on a family trip. Oh, and on the drive home we got to talk to Michael who is alive and well in Seoul, Korea. He thinks that spring there is paradise! We all love him and are so grateful that he gave up 2 years to serve the Lord.

End of the First Year of College

Ok, I know I'm a little behind, but here are some moments from the end of the school year.

This was a date night we had...oh man it was so fun! We had all this crazy food, and fondue, and marshmellow fights, and we played all sorts of games, sardines mostly, all while dressed crazy! It was fantastic!

Haha, like I said, it was so fun!

One of our last FHE Sunday dinners...we had many of these where we all took turns baking dinner for the FHE family. Might I just add that the food was always very tasty!

I believe this was our last FHE...we went to Jump-On-It and oh my goodness, it was so so so much fun! Not to mention that we got to jump on tramps for an hour or so and I got my front and back flips down!!

The last Sunday, we had ward prayer and then almost all of us stayed around for over an hour taking pictures, saying 'good-bye,' giving hugs, and just talking!

Then we had a ward hug, so many people joined in it felt kind-of like a mosh pit, except with more love and hugging instead of jumping.

This was our last roommate dinner. We went to the Cheesecake Factory as our last time all together. Front-to-back left-to-right: Jen Parks, Katie Willard, me, Erin Rasmussen, Lauren Christoffersen, and Mia Wells.

Cheers! Love Katie: I just love her smile, laughter, and great personality.

David Eichert and I. I think David was making an alblum or something with a picture of him and all the ward members.

This was the Sunday we got to sit outside for over 2 hours giving thank-a-monies and taking Whitney Hall pictures. Then, naturally, the photographer had to have a picture too.

Whitney Hall girls, Winter 2009 semester at BYU. I love them all!

How College Students Party..

So apparently every year Spanish Fork's Hindi group has an annual party at their temple and they invite the public. You go and look through their temple and sit out on the hill and watch people perform. Then you buy colored chalk and when theylight the fire and burn the witch you throw the chalk at each other and have a blast! ...Naturally, we would go! The party started at 4:00, but we left just before then and by the time we got there parking was horrendous and traffic was slow. So, out of complete boredom, I started taking pictures. Of driving! WAHOO!! West drove us, and this is Katie in the passenger seat. We all danced along to "My Life Would Suck Without You" at least 5 times during the drive.

And Erin was so darn tired, and "the sun felt so good" that she fell asleep. But I like to say that the Sandman came out of nowhere, about to attack me with his mighty stick of sand, but I smacked him
with the
backside of my hand and he tumbled over me and on to Erin's lap. Meanwhile forgetting he still had his Sand Stick in his hand and got up to ask me why I did that and smacked Erin in the forehead, so she went out like a light :)

Who knew there was a Hindi Temple in Spanish Fork, UT??
NOT ME!! It was pretty though, but super packed. We even left before the rest of the people
threw the chalk because we decided we didn't want to be inhaling chalk as we messed around.

Oh the beginnings of the fight. We all stuffed our hands into our individual bags and slapped handfuls of chalk onto each other's faces and bodies! So much fun! (Note: obviously there are no pictures of the actual fight because I was in it and did not want to ruin my camera).

The after effects of the chalk war. All the colors, faces, and enjoyment! I'm pretty sure the shirt, and the cami underneath, are permanently dyed a sort of purplish/pinkish color...
