I Love Weekends...I Wonder Why... :)

This week was pretty busy for me with piles of things to do at work, a party to plan for a class assignment, and trying to balance the rest of my life. Unfortunately, I kinda neglected the most amazing man in my life :( On Friday though, he brought me a beautiful flower and a wonderful note, and left them on my desk while I had stepped away for a while.
It made me smile a lot :) Totally made my day :)

After work, we had a service date night at the WILK which was super fun - a group of kids came and we just made crafts with them (the wonderful products of which happening are currently on my kitchen table). Following which, we managed to find our way back to our respective apartments and cook dinner for some roommates and relatives - it turned out quite nicely by the way :)

Saturday, after work, we were able to go on a fun double date with my parents. We went snowshoeing first - which ended up being quite the cross country adventure :)

Then we went out to eat at Olive Garden :) It turned out to be such a lovely weekend! I loved it :)

Short Stories from the Most Amazing Weekend

I had the most amazing weekend and spent it all with the most amazing person I know ;).

We went up to SLC to drop Jenni off at the airport so she could go see her fiance (so excited for her!), then drove up to Layton for a birthday party for Becca's boyfriend, Andrew. SO awesome! I felt kinda bad because Andrew felt sick and then the rest of us were so tired, so we just kinda crashed :(

However, we were up and ready to roll Saturday morning. Matt and I spent the whole day with Andrew and Becca, even though we weren't planning on it. I'm so glad we did, because we had a blast! Here are some of our awesome stories:

1. Friday night Matt and I met Andrew's sister (Rachel) and brother-in-law (Scott) - I like them a lot - and Scott found out that Matt speaks french, my name is Cosette, and Matt had never seen or read Les Miserables. Oh dear...we were stuck on that for quite a while; Scott just couldn't believe that and he totally reprimanded Matt for it; he even let Matt borrow his Les Mis movie so we could watch it. :)

2. Saturday morning as we were leaving Scott and Rachel's, Matt didn't know if said owners had their key, so he grabbed is phone to call Becca and Andrew (who had gone around the corner to their car) to see if it was ok to lock it. As he was on the phone, we decided it would be faster to just walk around the corner and ask...so I did. As I turned the corner, I saw them both searching frantically for their phones and then Andrew held his up and yelled, "I'm not answering that!" hahaha, it was great.

3. Our first stop was at the Hogle Zoo - very nice, and not very many people there :) Matt and I have this thing where we randomly say "squirrel" like in the movie Up, and I said it as we were walking around the zoo, and right after I said it, we both turned and low and behold, there was a squirrel.

We also ran into a giraffe that seemed to have a complex with the dirtiness of the wall, so he was cleaning it off with his tongue - it was so funny and we totally got a video :).

Oh, and Matt went to go on the kids' slide...but he was too tall :(

4. After that we headed to the Gateway Mall - like a wild goose chase trying to follow Andrew; we asked multiple times if he knew where he was going because he was driving kinda crazy and went around a few blocks. We determined that he was just giving us a tour of the city :)

At one point he did a U-turn so he could get to a parking garage, and we couldn't immediately follow him because of pedestrians and a few cars, but we caught up and followed him into the garage (just a different lane). All the sudden he stops, so we stop beside him for a second, then roll down our windows and ask if he's waiting for something. He looks surprised and mentions that he was just looking in his rear view mirror and thinking we got lost!

5. First thing, we went to find some food and ended up at Applebee's. On the way there, Andrew kinda took us around the Gateway (first North, then up to the second level, then South, and back down to the first level). On our wanderings, we kept asking if he knew how to get there, and he kept responding that he did. So Matt and I determined that he knew where we were, and he knew where we were supposed to be, but wasn't quite certain how to get there :) On the way, we ended up stopping at a sports store for Andrew, and Matt and I were looking at the BYU attire, and I kept putting hats on him to see how they looked. I had to keep getting on my tip-toes though because he is so tall and I am so not. So eventually he decided to get down to my level - he did so by kneeling on one knee - then after a few second he realized what it looked like and stood up pretty fast. hahaha :) One guy gave us a weird look :)

Then, at Applebee's, we had a great waiter who was so fun to chat with, and he even was kind enough to water the floor as he filled our water glasses (apparently no one else does it, so he was kind enough to help out - haha). Oh, and he'll be looking for Matt on the BYU basketball team next year (he'll totally make it if he decides to try out - I'm sure of it).

Oh, and as we were eating dinner, Andrew decided to play footsies with Matt. The first time, Matt said, "that's my foot" and Andrew made the excuse that he thought it was the table leg. (Note: they are both very tall and need leg room). A few minutes later Matt exclaims, "and that was my leg." Becca and I weren't quite sure how we felt about that one, although it did happen a few more times during the evening.

6. After food, we headed to the Clark Planetarium for some fun. On the way over, we went down some stairs and Matt and I ended up on opposite sides of the railing. Matt exclaimed, "Something's come between us!"...Andrew and Becca laugh..."it's a railing!" (gasp!) - me. :)

At the planetarium, we were playing with a two lens space microscope, and I held my hand in front of it in the I-love-you sign language sign, and waited for Matt to get the scope adjusted. Once he did, he smiled and then Becca promptly stated, "bet that was a nice thing to see." :)

7. Following that adventure, we headed to the movie theater to watch Tangled (I loved it!) where we stood in a fake line for a few seconds before we realized that it wasn't a line at all, then promptly migrated to the real line.

8. We walked back to the cars in such a great mood. We even determined that Matt was a spice...and started naming all the spices we could think of (Thyme, Nutmeg, Basil, etc). Oh, and throughout the night I had been asking Matt "who's driving this bus" everytime he abruptly altered direction as we walked (which happened alot). He had three drivers, other than himself, by the time the night ended - George, who was quite drastic; Fred, the aggressive one; and Bob, the trainee with about a minute and a half of real driving time. :)

Somewhere in that walk (or driving time) we also determined that it would be really funny to get a picture of me wearing one of Matt's shirts and possibly some of his basketball shorts - that may or may not happen, but if it does you'll for sure see a picture :)

9. Perhaps the funniest part of all - we found the car, and Matt so politely opened the door for me, then went around to his side. He pulls open the rear driver door and says, "Well that's not the front!" Then closes it and gets the driver's door. hahahaha :D we were laughing for so long!

Then we sang to the songs on the radio almost all of the way home (Matt's got a nice bass voice in case you were wondering). Oh, and as we passed the University Mall, Matt got pulled over. We were kinda curious because he hadn't been speeding or driving recklessly or anything. The cop, quite a young one, comes to his window and tells him that one of his break lights is out (whew! what a relief!). He then shines his flashlight at Matt and asks, "are you a BYU student?" - Matt nods - then shines it at me and asks if I am too - I answer in the affirmative. Then the cop just leaves. Matt and I look at each other like, what?!

Such a great weekend! Thanks to my amazing Matt!
I absolutely loved it!!

...pictures coming as soon as we can get the memory card from Becca...

Here Ya Go

I found a picture for you :) ...they're on facebook :) haha

Oh, and I was searching through college blogs (mostly cooking stuff), but I found this cool Surviving College site that had cheap date ideas for winter months, my favorite is as follows:

5. Candlelight. Take the traditional candlelit dinner to the next level–make clusters of glittering ice-candles and light up an outdoor mini-picnic. Start the day before and have everything ready when your crush arrives. I suggest warm-weather clothes and mittens, some quilts and something dry and waterproof (a simple tarp would be fine) to sit on. Skip the full-on dinner and do dessert instead (you can only brave the cold for so long). Gingerbread cookies and cocoa are a great start.

Just thought that was very clever. Anywho. School is great! I love my classes, and I get to do a research project with one of my professors on coaching youth sports teams in a way that enhances resiliency - it'll be fun! :)

Christmas Present :)

So... if you haven't heard yet, I had an absolutely fabulous Christmas present!

...well, it was a little late (Monday instead of Saturday), but that's alright.

Anywho. The most amazing man in the world found me and caught me over the break.

And now I'm dating him.

Because I'm pretty much the luckiest girl in the whole wide world.

And I'm totally smitten. It's true.

Yup! Consider yourself updated! :) I wish I had a good picture of myself with my handsome man... but alas, I do not :( I'll get there eventually though.
